As part of our partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Plymouth and their A Brush with Kindness program, SHP Financial team members volunteered to help build a wheel-chair ramp and assist with outdoor home restoration for an elderly, disabled woman in the local area. This supports the SHP mission to help those in need in our community. The team was honored to be a part of such a worthwhile cause.

About Habitat for Humanity of Greater Plymouth
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Plymouth is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities and hope. They are dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all.
They are a non-profit, 501(c)3, tax-exempt organization incorporated under the laws of Massachusetts and an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, Inc. Both the international organization and its local affiliate is a nondenominational, Christian housing organization that welcomes all faith relations to join in building simple, decent, affordable, houses in partnership with those in need of adequate shelter. The mission of their affiliate is the same as that of the International Chapter – To eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.
In pursuit of that goal, our affiliate strives to provide affordable housing to families in need in the ‘Cranberry Country’ of Plymouth, Carver, Plympton, Middleborough, Lakeville and Kingston, Massachusetts. We completed our first home in 1999 and continue to build homes as well as complete special projects such as critical additions and wheelchair ramps. Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families.
About the Brush with Kindness Program
Habitat’s Brush with Kindness Program uses volunteer labor, donated materials whenever possible, and no interest, short-term loans to make repairs on homes, helping low-income homeowners continue to live independently and securely in their homes. For those who cannot afford to make minor repairs, the A Brush with Kindness program is essential to keeping their living conditions pleasant and safe.
